NOTE FROM JEFF:
When I asked my contributors to submit items for
this list, I asked them to specify the songwriter
they were talking about. Some of them didn’t listen.
But to be honest, some of the items were
better without a specific name attached… even
when it was obvious exactly who they were talking
about. So maybe next time I won’t be such a
control freak.

The Top 9 Ways
Songwriters Beat Writer’s Block

9> Michael Bolton - Listen to old records, write down lyrics.

8> P. Diddy - Listen to some music from the 70s; record myself
saying “Yeeahh” a few times.

7> Become inspired by the possiblity of future residuals from Gap
ads.

6> Red Hot Chili Peppers - When all else fails, add a
“motherf#cker” or two.

5> “Huh? Heather Locklear, Pamela Anderson…I *never* have to
beat my… What? ‘*Block*?’ Oh! Never mind.”

4> Beg Christie to come back.

3> Eminem - Telephone Mom for a pep talk.

2> Elton John - Weekend at Bernie’s.

and the Number 1 Way a Songwriter Beats Writer’s Block…
1> There must be a fifty-first way to leave Edie Brickell.
