Attempts to Make Homework Fun

5> Bad news: The teachers still think it’s hip to have you write a
rap song about an academic topic.
Worse news: They brought in Simon from “American Idol” to hand
out the grades.

4> They said your research paper could be about anything. If they
meant “anything except how nice it is to skip class” they
should have said so!

3> The new initiative to make math “relevant to the real world”
sounded like a good idea, but in practice the class seems to
have become an unpaid, teachers-only branch of H&R Block.

2> “If you finish all your homework before dinner, you can watch
this video I’ve rented. Have you seen ‘Gigli’ yet?”

1> Field trips are great, but you could have written a perfectly
good paper on the digestive system without that excursion to
the sewage treatment plant.
