DC has just released a 64-page prestige format
special, “Batman: The Man Who Laughs,” which tells
the tale of Batman and Captain Gordon’s first
encounter with a new foe — a homicidal maniac now
known as The Joker. In the first few pages, we see
the results of the Joker’s early experiments
trying to find the compounds to create his calling
card — a gas that not only kills but forces the
victim’s face into a ghastly rictus grin. Of
